Eduardo Ulibarri holds a Masters Degree of Journalism from the University of Missouri and a Licentiate Degree of Collective Communication from the Universidad de Costa Rica. Also, he was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University (1987-1988).

He is an independent consultant specializing in communication and journalism strategies.

For 21 years (1982-2003) he served as Director of La Naci?n, Costa Rica?s major newspaper, where he started his career in 1973. He was President of the Comisi?n de Libertad de Prensa of the Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa between 1991 and 1994 and was the main writer of the ?Declaraci?n de Chapultepec? on freedom of speech.

Mr. Ulibarri has authored books on journalism and current topics and teaches journalism at the Universidad de Costa Rica. In addition, he is a political analyst and board member of different academic, journalism, and public service organizations.

EMr. Ulibarri has been awarded several distinctions including the Distinguished Journalism Service Medal from the University of Missouri, the Mar?a Moors Cabot Award from the University of Columbia in 1996, and the Premio Nacional de Periodismo of Costa Rica and the Premio ALACOP from the Asociaci?n Latinoamericana de Consultores Pol?ticos in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
